The Lojari

Informal Names: The Lojari
Abbreviation: LOJ
Population: 7,385,457,392
Annual Births: ~73,000,000
Annual Deaths: ~63,000,000
Annual Increase: ~10,000,000
Power Projection: Small

Advanced Systems Knowledge
The Lojari Ascendants have spent years in space, figuring out the very bare bones of the ships they travel in. This has led them be become versed in the modification of their vessels. Any space faring Lojari is highly capable when it comes to modifying and refitting a ship. Leaning on this knowledge of both the advanced and basic systems inside their ships; the Lojari scavenge ships of other races and utilise their technology with much more ease.

Xudo Reactors
Due to the widespread ship use of the Lojari, and the shortage of Helium-3, less efficient dirty fuels are in use in Lojari FTL reactors, such as Lithium-6. When Deuterium and Lithium-6 are forced together under high pressure they undergo a fusion reaction, this is a process which the Lojari have harnessed to power their ships. Once ready, the reactor is engaged, and millions of amps are passed through super-thin lithium wires in 100 nanosecond pulses. This generates up to three to four terrawatts of power. Those wires vaporise into plasma, which is collapsed onto the core of deuterium and lithium-6, inducing a fusion reaction.

Robust Engines
The Lojari ships make use of armour encased engines with reinforced interiors. This allows the Lojari to trickle the energy from the Xudo Reactor out the back of the ship in a so-called "z-pinch" using a “magnetic nozzle”. Due to their combination of a Lithium-6 their fuel efficiency allows them to go extremely quickly at sub light speeds and catch unwary prey in the unprotected zones.

Species

The Lojari are a gritty, split race of warm blooded mammals. They were naturally the prevalent species on their home planet, and now, they are a product of their harsh environment and conflict-orientated lifestyle. Lojari range from heights of six to eight feet. They have with standard feet with 3 large toes for balancing and hands with 3 fingers and opposable thumbs. Lojari require a vast amount of sustenance to deal with their rapid metabolism, this metabolism means they are able to change their body shape and heal their wounds at a much accelerated pace than humans. This does not come without its downsides however, Lojari bodies have pores on their spinal cord designed to jettison body heat via the lungs. The Lojari have 2 covered nasal passages covered in a bone structure attached to their skull. Due to their intense body heat Lojari can be covered in their own dead skin as a means to reflect sunlight, rather than grow hair. This means that the Logari can be covered in a variety of scale-like features that resemble the same texture of human nails.

Typical Lojari Nomads

The Lojari Ascendants are the Lojari people who volunteered to be taken away from their planet on a sub light research station and doing selective research over 1000 years between periods of being cryogenically frozen. When the Ascendants first came back to Lojar after the disaster, their technological advancements and vastly differing gene pool made them gods in the eyes of the primitive Lojari Nomads. Using their influence as god-like figures in the eyes of the Nomads, they were able to teach and control the rest of their Lojari brethren. The Temple, also known as Vessel 1-A77 is their home, it is inside a bored out large asteroid floating in deep space, kept ultimately private from outsiders. Here the Ascendants carry out their research and associate with some of the most influential nomadic leaders. The Ascendants taught the Nomads how to become a star faring race and were able to dictate a policy to the loose association of Nomad clans and foster them into a warrior society of brutish labour. Currently the Ascendants busy themselves in various endeavours, assisting the Nomads and galactic commerce to mention but a few. The Ascendancy realise that the Nomadic  influence over the race, especially the uprising in local pirate warlords has made them more aware of a possible foreseeable conflict between the Lojari people, and as such has sought less and less direct contact with the Nomads, further adding to their mystical reputation.

Culture

Due to the harsh upbringing of the Lojari people, they only respect their signs of their warrior culture, such as the mercenary ranking in their society. Each planet has a different symbol and a number classification to their skill level in society, whilst the skill levels may be universal for planets, and a 1st Class warrior would be the same from any planet, the environment to produce such a warrior differs vastly. For example, 1st Class warriors from Lojar are given a lot more respect than warriors from lush jungle planets.

Nomadic Warriors

First Class warriors are mythical in some parts of Lojari space due to the fact they are so rare. They are the finest warriors of the species. The First Class Warrior encompasses everything that makes a perfect soldier. They are tough, cunning, calculated, and charismatic and can grasp complex concepts easy. First Class warrior status can only be achieved by renowned Second class warriors entering themselves in a second Trial event, voluntarily, called the Grand Oshmio. The Grand Oshmio is not just an arena event however; it is weeks of gruelling tests and trials of both the body and the mind. Initially however, a Biannual Oshmio must be passed. With a 5% pass rate for rankings of 2-5 (often no participants achieve rank 2 or 3) the Oshmio is a painstakingly rigorous selection. Fortunately, it is an event without any fatal harm to the participants. The Grand Oshmio on the other hand is a fatal duel between Second Class Warriors that have passed all the tests, have the genetic requirements and gained enough renown. Only Warriors who meet these entry requirements can do the final spar of the Grand Oshmio. Victors obtaining rank 3-5 undergo rigorous combat training, while Second Class Warriors and First Class Warriors that have won the trial are subjected to genetic alteration, mentally enhancing drugs and intense combat training.

While First Class Warriors are the greatest the Lojari have to offer and oft thought of as legends, Second Class warriors are still revered among their peers as the most elite of Lojari.

In terms of how they interact with the universe around them, the Lojari are creatures of excess, with very little in the way of empathy or personal responsibility. Their culture teaches them that helping each other is counter-beneficial to their opportunities in the galaxy. However when Lojari join an existing ship’s crew for example, as a crew man or a hired gun, they usually form their opinions on the wider universe around them based on the experiences of their fellow crew mates, senior warriors and experienced Lojari.

There is no formal societal structure accepted by the Lojari people. Among its people there is a strong urge to find a belonging, usually found in crewing mercenary ships. First, Second and Third class warriors usually rank highest in Lojari society, holding positions as ship captains, warrior chieftains and leaders. First Class Warriors who go through their testing are usually the most capable of fulfilling a leadership role for the likes of a city. Cities are rare for the Lojari people however in some cases they can be useful in terms of industrial output or parts conversion.

Homeworld

Homeworld Name: Lojar
Homeworld Location: V9
Homeworld Description:
Lojar is a planet of immense disparity. Wealth is measured in strength on the planet, and the concept of living a good life on the surface evades some Lojari completely. Lojar features many scorched deserts pocked around the planet, marking the areas of nuclear devastation. Around those areas are jungles and forests and high peaks. Most of the oceans in Lojar are irradiated and toxic, inhabited only by horrific mutated creatures. Harsh winds engulf the planet. To the North and South poles of the planet lie high mountains with large fresh water lakes, free of radiation. Many tribes settle here, but the population of Lojar is in constant flux. The tribal people of Lojar, like most other Lojari, seek a life Amongst the Stars. However, Lojar does not contain the methods or the means to mobilize all of the populace, and therefore must force the Lojari to fight for their place on ships. Lojari who fight in the Bianual Oshmio, an arena event occurring every two years which forces local tribes to brawl for a placement on a ship to leave the planet. The Main City on the Planet was once called Korovo, it is now an underground connection of tunnels with a large concrete ceiling from repurposed buildings; it is called the Nest. The Nest is home to the Lojtuq tribe. Lojtuq owns the space port at the top of the nest. The City of Nahang is a prominent city set in the ruins of whale carcasses, affectionately named the Bone Pile, it has the biggest planetary Oshmio ring, set in a large carcass yard. The Telakorol Silo is an underground silo that has been outfitted to assist ships In getting into the atmosphere.

Politics

Flag of the Nomads

The Lojari Nomads are broken into a various number of clans who are each classified as being the best in a certain field. This is due to their origins, there are four main tribes in the Lojari societies, however each of these are broken down into even smaller tribes based on where they exist, their current situation and how they survive.

[LOJ] The Lojari LHSV2p0
Advanced Tribesmen

The Lojtuq are an advanced space faring tribe who are in regular communication with the Ascendants. They actively seek to ferry their people from world to world. They play a key role in scavenging their torn planet and they are seen as a major revenue generator.

The Lojkay are an explorer tribe, assembled from members across the galaxy. The Lojkay tribe are significant trade members and are well versed in galactic politics. The Lojkay regularly scour worlds and systems with their caravan traders, eager to sell their goods and wisdom to anyone who will bend the ear. A select few at the head of the tribe have the privilege to represent the Lojari on behalf of the Ascendants.

The Lojjal are an essential farming tribe of agricultural background. The Lojjal tie their endevours closely to the Ascendants due to their vast wealth of technology. The Lojjal provide for planets using space stations that they re-purpose and turn into agri-centres. The Lojjal create agri-ships for food and greenhouse ships for the roving packs of Lojari in space, providing them with methods of deep space travel.

The Lojguh are a long-time sea faring tribe who study star navigation. A Lojguh tribesman is usually a capable tracker and navigator on land, and a course plotter in deep space. Lojguh are seen as the cartographs of the Lojari people.

Warbands

Warbands are Lojari tribes in exile for defying the teachings of the Ascendants. Warbands comprise the majority of all Lojari pirating, mercenary and under-the-table dealings throughout the galaxy. Whilst the reach of the Ascendant Bound Lojari is rather tame, the reach of the warbands is unrestricted and as such, these Lojari exist in nearly all corners of the galaxy. They exist in fortress space stations across the universe. There are many prominent warbands.

History

[LOJ] The Lojari K19bEge
The Flag of the Ascendants

Lojar was once a planet of rare Beauty, a perfect world on which the Lojari people grew from microbial life. Lojar featured far stretching green fields and cities with spires of gleaming metal. The Lojari were a united race of people, broken into territorial borders and countries, individually going about their day to day business, concerned with their day-to-day lives. The Lojari people however had great plans for the stars, and their first manned mission around the Lojari System saw them invent stasis for such tasks. The Lojari were on the verge of completing faster-than-light drives when they were immediately given news that would cast a shadow on the race forever.

This shadow was cast in the form of a giant meteorite. The meteor was predicted to hit Lojar in twenty years. Originally the existence of the meteor was kept a secret, confined to the top of every government on the planet capable of advanced technologies. These governments had one goal in mind: Project Exile.

Project Exile was the plan of the planets top 1% to create a fleet of ships to fly away from the planet in the wake of the coming asteroid, and continue to work on FTL travel. Eventually, as the asteroid grew closer, 5 years into the project; the news broke out, and panic gripped the nations. Whilst the planet consumed itself in panic for 8 months, countless people died as lesser states fell into anarchy.  From this however, Project Exile was revealed, massive attempts to mobilize the populace of the planet was formed, the goal was simple: build, and build as much as possible.

Within 12 years a large space fleet had been built in the atmosphere and technological advancement had made leaps and bounds. In the remaining 2 years before the impact, it was calculated that the asteroid would not destroy the planet outright, but destroy the planets moon, fracturing it. This was both a blessing and a curse. The asteroid missing the planet created hope for survival on the planet, and this was peddled to the less fortunate people, giant, cost effective shelters were created to save those too insignificant to travel in the fleet. Within the next two years months remained and the populace of Lojar was working hard until the few weeks before the asteroid hit.

As predicted, the asteroid, named The Molkunanda (The Consumer) smashed and fragmented the moon, however a large chunk of the fragmented asteroid smashed into one of the planets oceans, causing a huge tidal wave that wiped out a vast majority of the planets coastal cities, flooding the underground shelters and creating critical situations for the nuclear reactors. The asteroid storm that then fell on the planet effectively destroyed many regions; casting dust into the atmosphere and blocking the sun, causing freezing conditions in the coming years.

12% of the Population survived the Molkunada, and what was left for them was the battered remains of the Lojar wasteland. Lojar had become a black, cold planet with thick, acrid clouds coating the atmosphere. Uncontrollable tides drowned areas as large tidal waves smashed the planet for years before they settled, killing a further 78% of surviving Lojari. The population left on the plant was now 3% of what it used to be, and life was scarce. People died due to poor survival instincts, being accustomed to such an advanced life had left people useless in terms of surviving on their own. Some of the shelters however survived. And minor colonies were the first to form civilised life. These colonies were able to teach the Lojar how to reclaim their lands, how to go forth and re-populate the world ahead of them.

In the coming decades however, a dark-age like primal fever would grip the people, the way of violence became the way of the land, and intellectuals were crushed. Nomadic tribes who scavenged became a new way of life, and the radiation of the Lojar wasteland was beginning to affect the ecosystem on Lojar.

After the asteroid hit, the Ascendants, the 3% chosen to be cryogenically frozen in space went into their deep sleep. After 1000 years they awoke from their sleep, some of their pods had failed and their ships power cores had failed, these people survived on pure intuition, re-firing the facilities on their ships. They returned to a Lojar ruled by savage nomadic warlords. The Ascendants realised that the only way to save the Lojari race was to mobilize the Lojari Nomads in order to find another planet to colonize and call home. After 50 more years, FTL was perfected, and the Ascendants immediately set about equipping the greatest tribesmen with their own ships and training them, after this, they set them loose on the galaxy to do whatever they pleased, as long as they continued to search for a permanent home stead. Within a few years however this descended into savage raiding and pirating missions, but by then it was too late. Lojari Nomads would return home with more ships and plunder for the rest of them, starting a cycle that would spread the Lojari Nomads all over the galaxy.

Military

Military Specifications:
As with most types of space pirates, the Nomads rely mostly upon ambush and surprise. In a large fight, the Nomads often attack in large numbers, and will often try to steal enemy ships using clever and underhanded tactics such as flanking an escort ship from behind or distracting a frigate with fighters as another corvette attempts to board the ship in. A Lojari pirate tactic is usually to disguise themselves as motionless asteroids, which make them harder to detect on sensors. In order to successfully capture a ship, the Nomad attack wings will rely highly on their enemy’s weak points or unprotected flanks as does any other lesser force, though to the Nomads it serves as a bonus for successfully capturing a ship. Very rarely will their engagements come in full force from the front, unless they have a large force behind them. Using tactics such as these are a common way of life for Raider pilots, they do this in order to preserve their ships and protect their race, as pirates they must steal to survive and flourish if they are not doing mercenary work.

Military Composition: As such, the Lojari fleet relies entirely on unique vessels that are susceptible to constant change. Second Class Warriors generally command pirate fleets, with Third Class Warriors commanding individual ships. First Class Warriors few and far between, usually prefer to command a large presence with a custom built ship. The combined strength of the Nomad fleet is difficult to estimate and rapidly in flux. Vessels that are used for civilian jobs can always be re-purposed to be war ships, and colonial attacks can be used to gather weapons and ship parts for the Lojari fleet. The result is a fleet that is not as useful as other nations, but one that is much more numerous and designed for guerilla engagements.

Star Sailing

The Nomadic fleet consists almost entirely of flak corvettes, missile corvettes, cannon corvettes and frigate class vehicles. Naming conventions and static fleet formations are unheard of in the Lojari Doctrine or military school of thought. Ships are solid in “Chassis” to the Nomads from other Nomads who then will outfit them with parts based on the trails they do to earn their ship as a form of bartering. The buyer is given the ship as part of a set of trials (to see if the Nomad is competent with his craft). The buyer however makes up the trade by doing assorted tasks for the seller, who usually is he himself in service to an influential tribe or even the Ascendants; this allows the Ascendants and powerful nomad tribes to exhibit control over the lesser echelons of Lojari society. After each task the buyer does for the seller, the seller will guarantee the buyer a part of his ship. The ship itself and its parts are decided by a code of purchase laid down by the ascendants to stop extortion of buyers by sellers. First a buyer is guaranteed the ships husk, then the sub light engines, then the navigation, after navigation comes FTL equipment. Of course buyers can still do additional tasks for other sellers to get even greater parts for their ship such as armour plating, shielding modules and weapon systems.

To attempt to stop theft, a Nomad’s tribe as a whole must condone the purchasing of a chassis, that way the whole tribe is held accountable for the theft of a chassis. For the amount of days the ship is late on its tasks for the original owners of the ship, the Nomad’s tribe is held in slavery. After a deemed amount of time, the tribe can then be sold into further slavery should the ship still not be returned. This makes up for the profits of theft. Listed below are the chassis of the ships that the Lojari produce themselves.

Cazardum Chassis
The Cazadum Frigate is a small, nimble ship using a chassis and FTL engine, its high powered thrusters allow it to outrun local patrol vessels and it makes it a lethal weapon in hit and run attacks. The Cazadum is a jack of all trades, and usually can accommodate a crew of 8 Lojari. The vessel is capable of filling a number of roles including engineering, cargo or defence purposes. The Cazadum can mount light weaponry and has the ability to do smaller jumps. It is the perfect raiding vessel, but suffers to other ships of similar size.

Barzagzag Chassis
The Barzagzag is a larger chassis able to accommodate a crew of 16. The Barzagzag has large central cannon in the middle and a large cargo hold; it is seen as a work horse, capable of shipping large cargo on the exterior of the ship.

Usobi Chassis
The Usobi chassis is a large war vessel available to the Lojari. The Lojari has 2 missile pods and 2 kinetic weapons on the top and bottom. It fits a crew of 32; it has 5 cargo holds for weapon munitions. Each weapon requires a crew of 4, due to their entirely mechanical nature. It has a maintenance crew of 3, 3 spare beds and 6 crew; for navigation.

Racial Bonus: (//are these allowed?) The Z-Pinch
All Lojari ships are utilising Xudo Reactors, from which they can selectively outlet the energy from these extreme reactions to escape justice with loot or even smaller ships. Lojari ships have to roll above 5 in a 1d20, giving them a generous 75% chance of survival, however if they fail, no matter their health, the ship is destroyed.

During a battle a Lojari vessel can attempt to utilise its Xudo Reactor Z-Pinch using a 1d20. If it rolls over 7/20 it successfully escapes out of range, however it maintains itself in the system. Ships take three turns to catch up to the Xudo Frigates. The Z-Pinch can be used after one combat turn. It takes 3 turns to recharge.

Good to go, are you going to make up ship designs on the fly like last time?
