Character Design

Character design in ATS is a unique way for players to participate on a different level from the strategic level fighting of ATS, whilst still having a unique character with a compounded, traceable experience. Characters in ATS are not expected to regularly change the course of the known universe, however they are expected to shuffle things up in an unexpected way, this can take any form. Characters can be adept public figures or crucial scientists holding the key to war-winning technologies.

ATS is a work of hard science fiction, therefore everything has to make some kind of sense. Characters have to realistically get to where they are at the minute through compelling backstories, and those backstories need to be carried out as the character goes through his or her journey.

Any player can create an infinite amount of characters.

If a character wants to crew a ship, it must be admin authorised, usually the story leading to the capture of the ship depends on the admin authorisation (eg, a 2 sentence story isn't going to earn you a flagship, no matter how good your bionic space pirate bounty hunter is.)

Once a character dies, he doesn't "re-spawn", he simply dies. However players, if they wish can write in many loopholes to evade death in some cases, examples including cloning or other such techniques.

Hero Character:

Name: High Lady Ambassador Halla Za'Tar
Race: Kal'Bavakorian

Backstory:

Previously the ambassador to the New Terran embassy on New Terra, Halla Za'Tar's unique diplomatic abilities, likable nature and ability to withstand the lure of violence caught the eye of Empress Elena Ru'Shia. Without a moment to spare, Ambassador Halla Za'Tar was made the High Lady of Ambassadorial Duties for Kal'Bavakor, and she now runs the entire Diplomacy Corps. While relations with foreign species are strained or non-existant, the duties of Hall Za'Tar are to made friends and allies for trade and future combat operations. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty, and is prone to going to foreign worlds herself to meet with ambassadors and diplomats of foreign species.

She is a focal point for the Kal'Bavakorian/New Terran relationship.

Backstory:

Barely reaching adulthood in Kal'Bavakorian years, Samari Mit'Zar is a young, idealistic Kal'Bavakorian vying to know more about what lies outside Kal'Bavakorian space. She originally volunteered to be an Alliance Stellar Marine after the Valkari attacked her home planet of Yunvaro; breaking ties with her Yu'Olva Caste to be part of the Mel'Va. Raised as an engineer, her tinkering abilities did her much good when Alliance supplies ran low or their weapons and technology broke down on foreign Valkari worlds. After serving for four years, she broke away from the Stellar Marines just about the time it was reorganized into the Sentinel Corps and, still thirsting to know more about the galaxy off of the battlefield, she collected her Citizenship and procured a starship license and Frontier pass from the Colonial Administration.

She left Yunvaro and set out into the stars in her personal spacecraft along with thousands of other young, idealistic Kal'Bavakorians. While most set out onto uninhabited worlds, hoping to practice their religions, settle new communities, or learn about the stars, Samari set out for inhabited space; specifically the larger empires such as the New Terrans, Kotungans or the Nakar, in the hopes she might learn of their cultures, their peoples, and make new friends along the way.

That doesn't mean, of course, she isn't prepared for a fight. Her ship, the corvette "Hvar Jaak" comes equipped with energy cannons, a missile launcher, and five Data-Net beacons to connect with the Home System. Onboard the ship, she has multiple energy weapons, a MK.20A Frontiersman Power Armor, and her ship's Mobile OI, "Hvar"

Name: Grand Ship Master Mussar Li'Zak

Backstory: The Admiral that led the assault on the Valkari homeworld, and thus is responsible for it's destruction, High Ship Master Mussar Li'Zak is a veteran of multiple conflicts against a variety of enemies. She is currently the lead Ship Master in the Alliance's Stellar Guardians, and is just below the High Lord of the Stellar Guardians in rank. Her aggressiveness and tact is unmatched in battle, although after years and years of conflict, she is beginning to feel a tinge of guilt for the thousand upon thousands of lives she has ended, both directly and indirectly.

Post characters like you would civs, not here, consider them all approved. One minor hiccup is the mentioning of Kotungans, which may or may not be in this one.
