[J,05] Talarin Alien_ruins

The Alarei's homeworld, much like Sol, has been turned into a wasteland. Once a vast city-planet holding a technological monopoly over the civilizations of Amongst the Stars, it is now reduced to ash. The Alarei were masters of many sciences and technologies, and thus have attracted the attention of many tech hunters. Living like rats, they scavenge what few pieces of unknown tech and scraps of machinery to whatever company offers the highest price for it.

This planet is highly dangerous even without the trigger happy merc grunts and the cut throat gang members. There are heavy windstorms that could blow a 18 wheeler onto its side, pockets of radiation, and mutated animals. Not to mention, the air is not breathable. Well, it is comprised of mostly oxygen, so humans and other oxygen breathing organisms can go without a gasmask, but there is something about the air. Researchers have detected a chemical element in the air that has hallucinogenic properties. If someone were to take off their mask, they'd go insane within a couple of hours of exposure.

But despite all these dangers, those who bring back something from the depths of Talarin are usually greatly rewarded for it.

Possible Rewards: Civilizations who explore here have a chance of finding technology boosts to Augmentations and cybernetic implants, energy based weaponry, and medical discoveries.

System J,05:
Orbit Over Talarin, 1st Carrier Strike Group
Bridge of the R.S.S. Emperor

[J,05] Talarin Star-destroyers

The view of the tomb world Talarin lurched forward as suddenly the entirety of the 1st Carrier Strike Group, accompanied by troop transports, construction platforms, and research vessels exited FTL travel. Subspace drives ignited and the armada began to move towards the planet and almost immiedietly a message began to broadcast from the Federal Fleet.

"WARNING! WARNING! You are now entering Federal Space. Any non-authorized entities will be eliminated."

This message plays on a loop on all open channels.

System J,05:
Orbit Over Talarin, 1st Carrier Strike Group
Drop-Pod Bay of the R.S.S. Emperor

[J,05] Talarin 6a43d82a83450c63da94c26d9d746ce5

The red light blinked on, and the whole interior of the one-man atmospheric drop vehicle or ADV was sparked to life. The panels turned on and began their boot sequence. The coordinates were immediately entered into the system by the Emperor's artificial intelligence. Sergeant Tylon placed his hands on the joysticks of the pod and leaned his head back into the harness. The ADV automatically secured his entire body into the pod.

"One minute until drop. One minute until drop."

The Marine took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. He listened. The sound of machinery was heard and he felt his pod move as it was grabbed by the ship's mechanical arm and placed into the launching tube. He opened his eyes and the red light turned green. Beep. Beep. Beep. Drop. The G-Force of the sudden ignition of the pod's engines kept the marine's body in place. The pod started to shake violently. He was entering the atmosphere now. He could see the planet's surface from the window pane. The whole planet was a nuclear waste and Sergeant Tylon was plummeting towards it. He saw thousands of other pods as well, all dropping to the surface of Talarin. The first wave of Red Sun troops to land on the desolate planet. He was jerked to the left as the pod corrected its flight path once it passed the atmosphere.

It was maybe another thirty seconds before the pod slammed into the ground and the door was ejected off. Tylon grabbed his assault rifle and began scanning his surroundings. He immediately spotted a figure. It wasn't Red Sun, a mercenary or scavenger. His arms were raised above his head. The marine squeezed his trigger. The figure crumpled over to the ground. Gunshots rang all around the sergeant. Several Federation atmospheric jets screamed overhead.

He screamed orders over the comms system to his squad as they cleared out the former USC outpost they had landed in. It was littered with scavengers and after seeing several of their comrades get cut down, they finally began to return fire. Several rounds glanced off of the sergeant's SHIELD armor . The federal marines moved fluidly through the compound as they killed anyone who wasn't a Red Sun trooper, and within 20 minutes the compound's surface was cleared and the marines moved deeper into the facilities.

The invasion of Talarin had began.

Alarei Home System
Talarin
Low Orbit

The clouds above Talarin shook and rattled as a Human cruise liner, painted with tribals jumped into the upper atmosphere. Onboard the carrier was Chaos, lights were flashing red, rooms were sparking and Lojari were throwing themselves all over the carrier in an effort to get out of the crashing ship.

"CAPTAIN THIS ISN'T THE SOL SYSTEM." said a Nagarian pirate to his Lojari commander. He flicked switches frantically. "We're in the pull of the planet, we're going to fucking hit this planet!" the captain raised both eyebrows and jumped out of his seat, the crew knew what was coming, the ship began to lurch as it started to spiral to the planets ground. They didn't have much time. As the captain and his men ran to the aft section of the ship, in a desperate attempt to find the escape pods. "How did this happen, do you understand the consequences of this!? We were navigating for the Eradicators!" The gargantuan ship spun and began to shudder as the atmospheric stress began to tear the ships hull apart, to outsiders viewing the event shuttles would now pop from the sides, but the catastrophe was far from over. Just as the captain had said, the Puerta Fortuna luxury cruiser was a pirate ship navigating for the Eradicator fleet. More ships began to jump into the upper atmosphere, similar ships, scrappy pirate vessels, instantly pulled in by the earths gravity. The ships attempted to thrust out of the low orbit like fish diving out of the water for a brief second before being snatched back. Flames engulfed the ships as they leaked dropships, escape pods and daring pilots flew out of some of the exploding hulls. Both the mercs and the Red Sun Systems forces would bear witness to the one of the biggest galactic messes yet as debris rained from the sky, shower the planet in fire. Within 2 minutes the ground shook with a chilling rumble and a large blue explosion engulfed the horizon as the Puerta Fortuna's fusion core went up in a large explosion, ships continued to scurry from the sky to attempt to land.

A neohuman mercenary picked over some of his scavenged loot, having no allegiance to his brothers on the other side of the planet, clearly engulfed in fighting with the Red Sun Systems. This player wanted to take his slice of the pie and make it off to the next looting ground. In the background a few mercs were setting up a Surface to Orbit Missile. As they broke open crates with their crowbars and pieced the weapons together the merc paid attention to landscape of Talarin. The green hue, the lightning in the distance, the concerto of distant artillery. Then something interrupted his usual symphony, a Lojari tribesman had sunk his teeth into the mercs neck. The Lojari warrior pulled his head back hard, ripping out most of the humans left trapezius and leaving him howling. The Lojari creature picked up his small human weapon and proceeded to cut down the other mercenaries, after this the fellow pirates on the run erupted from the treeline, scavenging the mercenaries' gear and moving further outward from their crash site.

System J, 05
Surface of Talarin, Southeastern Continent
12th Marine Planetary Detachment HQ

[J,05] Talarin Starcitizen-asteroid-hangar-03

"Attention, attention. Scramble Fighter Groups eight, nine, and twelve. Fighter Groups one through seven, prep for takeoff. Marine battalions two and three report to vehicle depot combat ready. Marine battalion one report to dropship hangars combat ready. This is not a drill."

The message would play again and again as the warning alarms screamed in Warrant Officer Dabrak's ears. He sprinted with the rest of his flight squadron towards the hangar bays buried deep under ground. As they entered the bays, the Close-Support Claymore Atmospheric Jets were already prepped and ready to go. As Dabrak climbed up the ship's ladder and strapped himself into the cock pit of the jet the platform below him began to raise. The whole hangar seemed to move upwards as the fighters were lifted to the surface of Talarin. The cockpit polarized as the sun hit the surface of the plane, and a voice chimed in through the pilot's comm channel.

<"This is flight tower Sigma to Rome Six, you are cleared for takeoff. I repeat you are cleared for takeoff.">

"Copy that Rome Actual, taking off now."

The surface of the airbase would be covered in dust and dirt as the Federal Stellar Corps would launch their all out onslaught towards the incoming pirate vessels, plummeting to the ground of Talarin. As Dabrak would reach low-flying altitude to join the rest of his squadron, he looks at the fighters joining him. Almost one hundred and fifty jets were en route to the crash sites of these Lojari. Below the Warrant Officer would be a formation of War-hammer Dropships and Spear Gunship. They roared and held hundreds of Federal Marines, and they would in turn be supported by the armor battalions taking up the rear. This force was the beachhead. Dabrak's attention was suddenly yanked to his intercom system as the squad leader began giving orders to the pilots.

"This is Rome Actual to Rome Squadron. We've got an unknown amount of foreign xeno-scum flying straight towards our territory. We aren't taking prisoners up here, so if you see something still in the air I want it dead. As for the ground mission the same orders stand, no survivors. At least not until HQ tells us to call off our runs so the Marines can bag some for questioning. You all know how much the Inquisition just adores aliens.

And with that they were only a few minutes out from the operational area.

In the graveyard of Lojari ships there were enough pods and bodies of Lojari pirates to constitute a mass grave. Lojari scurried from the wreck sites eager to get away from their current situation. Some mercs had put up a good fight and some had crumpled like paper, a reflection of the poor attempts to pick the planet clean.

The Rigoratus Wreck

The Lojari Destroyer was a munitions cache, and its storage had broken up in the atmosphere, its front half smashed into an industrial complex and Lojari and Nagarian pirates had leaked out of it. Ash, burning trees and oil fires consumed the Rigoratus Wreck visuals and IR signatures would be hard to deter, but guidance systems would operate uninterupted. The Lojari scuttled around on the ground in the face of the HUGE amount of enemy air assets that were engulfing the planet. Guns opened up, MANPAD launchers shot at the sky in an attempt to whittle a small percentage of the Red Sun forces to buy them some time. Nonetheless the Red Sun System had destroyed most of the wrecks entirely, the Rigoratus went up in a blue hume of smoke and was entirely wrecked in a matter of seconds.

City "B2"
Gegelgep's Wrecksite

As the Lojari leaked into the planet they competed with mercs in tight conditions in an attempt to find some temporary solace. Gegelgep's Corvette crew had bailed out over a nuclear wreck of an Alarei city, they'd given themselves enough time to get comfortable, leaking into an underground railed system, presumably the Alarei's form of public transport. Some of the areas of the transport had been sprayed up with merc grafiti, and ancient alien symbols of old. A haunting underworld of a race of immense power. The crew consisted of;

Gegelgep; a Lojari freebooter. Krupps, a Lojari Lojkay Sky Navigator. Mortka, an Ascendant Biologist under the fleets custody, Donnum, a Nagarian commando and combat expert and finally Rastus Tal, a Tal-Nagarian in exile who was an expert hacker. Rastus Tal was currently showing off his talents. His neo-Nagarian augmentations had him plugged into the railways mainframe hacking into the system with his mind. As he was connected, the systems native AI attempted to force him out of the system, but he'd hacked enough systems to have a separate backup system implanted in his brain. He'd seen enough players get wiped out and turned into Gurgurluk Soup to know a thing or two about plugging mainframes.

Gegelgep scanned the tunnel with night vision goggles and a large assault rifle. He patched into Rastus's feed to see what he was doing for a few seconds.
"Will you hurry up with that?" A bomb exploded on the surface, dust fell from the roof heightened the reality of where they actually were.

Rastus replied as he scanned the system.
"Yes, I'm nearly in, hold on, deploy the battery." As he said that, the rest of the crew took out what seemed to be their corvette's power core and plugged it into the wall. As they did this Rastus was able to see the whole transport system, even call a public transport. The cart came in the form of a magnetic railway platform. They hopped on the underground transport and moved across the planet.

The tram was quiet, the crew had been getting some much needed shut eye. Krupps and Donnum were playing cards on the dusty floor of the public transport. Donnum scratched his rubbery head. He sniffed and wiped his nose."I think I've picked up something local, this mission's fucked up."

Krupps nodded. "Yeah, I should have been navving, I told you the flagship-" he hesitated "Flagship? Okay, first of all it was a cruiser, and we were put with the ascendant, dunno why that happened, but okay, I get that. So they put a cruiser, with crap FTL, with an even shittier navigator on board. Presumably they die, yeah? Now we're stuck under here like worms in the dirt."

Donnum slapped a few cards down. "Stacked government, read em and weep. Okay, but furthermore, I hear you, com chatter say's were in the home system of the Alarei, Red Sun Systems, contractors. To be honest I think we're lucky we landed on Sol. The data was old and humans have a history of hating us, treating us like shit, I mean listen to the radio chatter we're fighting humans. Ask this guy, he knows." Donnum slapped an Alarei skeleton to the left of him in a morbid gesture.

"That's disgusting Donnum."

"You Nagarian boys are a bunch of brutal children, you'd pick the wings off a fly if it pleased you."

"You Lojari have a rep to be the best pirates in the galaxy and yet we're the ones who have all the achievements!"

"I'm not a nomad you fool, the same way you say you're not a Tal-Nagarian, who I remember having all the galactic achievements before the Nakar took them down a peg or two."

"Okay, a fair assessment, whats the difference between the ascendants, the nomads, and you?"

"Knowledge really, " he shrugged "The nomads are just tough, tough hired guns, they fight and fight and fight, they die and they come back to Lojar and they fight. Well, not anymore, the Nakar have taken our homes. So now you have this situation where the Ascendants grace us by doing nothing, our gods do nothing. But back to the point, Ascendants are smart, Nomads are dumb, if you dont subscribe to either of those then you end up as one of the tribes, everyone leaks in there, pariahs, people who don't want to fight, most of the people left on Lojar are just on the planet now."

"What a mind-fuck. Too much info for a hired gun like me. So what makes you think we were roped onto this planet?"

"My guess is it's some ancient tech had a crack at us, snare trap or something maybe? The quantum field ratings were impossible to gather data from since we literally jumped about seven hundred metres off the ground before we had to bail, then the jets and the bombers and the mercinaries; we had to get out of there so quickly there was no time to get the detail. But we scavenged a good amount of the team, and I guess that's what mattered."

Alarei Home System
Talarin
System's edge

Amidst the ongoing operations on the planets surface, a large number of troop transport ships completed their jump into the system followed by two cruisers and three destroyers and each vessel was emblazoned with the roundel of the Jioran Army. The fleet advanced in a steady course for Talarin with it's armed escort taking up tactically advantageous positioning to cover the transport ships, before long a transmission was relayed to the R.S.S. Emperor.

"Message on behalf of General Kajaur: The Jioran Army will occupy Talarin as agreed upon, standby for further discussion upon our descent."

Unknown

It had been 6 Months on the occupied rock of Talarin and still the Lojar pirate hadn't been caught. Most had died in the wreck, even more had died to the planet, Gegelgep had learned much in the 6 months of resisting occupation of the Red Sun Systems, the Mercenaries, the Jiorans and the goodies the Alarei had left behind. Needless to say, mercenary was the title he still wore. War Hero would have suited him if he belonged to a conventional army, he looked up to the sky through a crack his "Sleeping Pipe" the green sky, the feint ships that glowed there. Home made his heart sore, but he had begun to wonder what his home really was at this stage. He could trick the automated turrets, mess with the drones and use the planets vast public transport network to scurry about. He left patrols in the dirt and had cobbled together enough supplies during what was the harshest winter he had ever seen. He stuck his blade into a small crustacean and dunked it in an ominous glowing blue glue. He scanned his Geiger counter over the creature; negligible. He bit into it harshly, as he was chewing he noticed that the high pressure feeling on the left side of his head was synonymous with bad dental care... not that that really mattered to him in the first place but firing a rifle with his left side was becoming an issue.

Toothpaste in apocalyptia.... not what he had expected, but like the crashing of the Rigoratus, he didn't think anybody really saw it coming.
