The Great Races of ATS

There are many races and species in the galaxy, some of them well known and famous or notorious for their nature, some mysterious and isolationist, and some mere mysteries, whispers told from traveler to traveler.





"Man has known since the dawn of time that his place is in the stars."

Having risen from the ashes, humanity lives with the sin of their fathers. They have been labelled and portrayed as an inherently warlike, imperialist, and expansion driven race of ignoramuses that barely know how to use their own technology, they find themselves with few allies in the galaxy. No surprise there either, as they have warred with each other for resources and planets since the Alarei's disappearance. Regardless, they have established several diplomatic and trade victories in the past few decades, and starting to change their image slowly.

Several colonies and nations have been lost throughout the centuries, mostly from the harsh conditions of the planets they inhabited or war. The few human nations that remain are cautious, feeling that they are being backed into a corner. It is a scary predicament, because another war with a nonhuman race could be the final nail in the coffin for humanity, forever labeling them as a primitive race of space faring war beasts.






"SURVIVAL BEGETS EVOLUTION."

Isolated and cut off from humanity, forced to live in harsh conditions, or forced their own "evolution" as they would call it, some humans just don't look.. human anymore. Some have long since been uncivilized, living as primitive tribals on a failed colony world. Others, such as the Zeleniyans, have been shaped by their harsh environment, resulting in them needing augmentations to survive beyond 15 to 20 years.



"The greatest civilization of the last era, reduced to dust."

The once proud, hyper-advanced, blue skinned species of Alarei, now reduced to ashes. Before the war with humanity, the Alarei had the greatest diplomatic influence over the known galaxy, unofficial "head chair member" of the last council. The nuclear war is regarded as one of the most detrimental to technological advancement to the entire galaxy, as the Alarei were on the brink of sharing some of their secrets with other empires and nations before the war.

Because of their superb population control, they subsequently were all but exterminated in the retaliatory missile strikes. Today, there are rumors of Alarei mutants living on Talarin, their former homeworld, and traders speak of a migrant fleet of untold size that escaped the apocalypse and has yet to find a permanent home.
